Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

Please read these terms carefully before using School Compass. By creating an account or purchasing a report, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you have questions, contact us at hello@schoolcompass.com.au.

1. About School Compass

School Compass (schoolcompass.com.au) is an Australian school advisory platform operated by School Compass Pty Ltd (ACN [TO BE INSERTED]) that helps Australian families make informed secondary school decisions through personalised assessment reports.

Our reports are produced using a proprietary methodology combining proven child learning assessment frameworks, a curated database of over 400 Australian schools, and an AI-assisted analytical engine that synthesises your child's profile against each school's characteristics. The methodology, frameworks, assessment criteria, and editorial standards are human-designed and human-curated.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By using School Compass, you confirm that you are a parent, guardian, or authorised representative of the child whose information you are providing. School Compass is intended for use by Australian residents.

3. Our services

School Compass offers the following services:

  • Child Learning Profile (free): a custom developed child learning profile generated from your questionnaire responses and any documents you upload.
  • School Fit Report ($349 per child): a personalised advisory report comparing up to 10 schools against your child's profile.
  • Monitor & Prepare ($9/month): ongoing school monitoring and preparation tools (coming soon).
  • AI Tutoring ($79/month): personalised tutoring support (coming soon).

4. Nature of our reports

School Compass reports are advisory in nature. They are designed to inform your decision-making process, not to replace it.

Our reports draw on publicly available school data, structured assessment of your child's profile, and a proprietary school database. While we take considerable care to maintain data accuracy, we cannot guarantee that all school information (including fees, enrolment figures, and program offerings) is current at the time of report generation. School circumstances change. We recommend verifying key details directly with schools before making enrolment decisions.

Our reports are not psychological assessments, educational diagnoses, or professional advice in the clinical or legal sense. If you have specific concerns about your child's learning, please consult a qualified educational psychologist or specialist.

5. Payment and refunds

Payment for School Fit Reports is processed securely at the time of purchase. Reports are generated immediately following successful payment.

Due to the nature of our service — a personalised report generated specifically for your child — we do not offer refunds once a report has been generated and delivered.

If you experience a technical failure that prevents you from accessing your report, please contact us at hello@schoolcompass.com.au and we will resolve the issue promptly. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

6. Subscriptions

Where subscription services are available, they are billed monthly. You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused subscription time.

We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

7. Your content and uploads

By uploading documents (such as NAPLAN reports or school report cards), you confirm that you have the right to share this information and that you consent to its use in generating your child's profile and report.

You retain ownership of all content you upload. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your documents or your child's personal information.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, School Compass's liability to you for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental loss including loss of opportunity, loss of data, or decisions made in reliance on our reports.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including guarantees relating to services.

9. Intellectual property

All content on School Compass — including the platform design, school database, assessment methodology, report templates, and written materials — is owned by or licensed to School Compass. You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercialise any part of it without our written permission.

Your School Fit Report is for your personal use in making school decisions for your family. You may share it with family members or educational advisors. You may not publish, sell, or distribute it.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Provide false or misleading information about yourself or your child
  • Use the platform for commercial purposes without our written consent
  • Attempt to access, scrape, or replicate our school database
  • Interfere with the platform's operation or security

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. On deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.
