We combine your child's unique learning profile with deep institutional research across leading independent, Catholic, and selective state schools to produce a personalised School Fit Report.

Which schools do you cover?

We currently cover schools across South-East Queensland, including independent, Catholic, and selective state schools in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, and Toowoomba. Each school has been individually researched across academic results, culture, pastoral care, fees, and extracurricular programs. National expansion is underway.

Is this an AI product?

School Compass uses AI to synthesise a large volume of school data and your child's profile into a structured report. The underlying school research — fees, ATAR data, ICSEA, faculty profiles, extracurricular programs — is drawn from published sources including ACARA and school websites. AI helps us connect that data to your child's specific needs in a way that would be impractical to do manually.

Who is behind School Compass?

School Compass was founded by an Australian family who went through the school selection process and found it far harder than it should be. The platform is built in Australia, with all data sourced from Australian institutions. We are not affiliated with any school or school network.

What does a School Fit Report include?

Each report includes: a personalised child learning profile summary, school fit scores across academic, learning environment, pastoral, extracurricular, and practical dimensions, a ranked comparison table, 6-year fee projections for every school assessed, commute times by driving and public transport, personalised open day questions for each school, and a narrative synthesis bringing the whole picture together.

How many schools can I include in one report?

You can include up to 10 schools in a single School Fit Report. We recommend selecting schools across a range of fee levels, locations, and types to give the report the most useful comparative scope.

How long does it take to generate?

Report generation typically takes 2–4 minutes after payment. You'll receive a notification when your report is ready, and it will be available to view and download from your dashboard.

Can I get a report for primary school selection too?

Our reports currently focus on Years 7–12 school selection. Primary school advisory is on our roadmap.

How much does a School Fit Report cost?

A single School Fit Report is $349 AUD (one-time, no subscription required). The Child Learning Profile is free and can be completed before you decide whether to order a report.

No subscription is required for a School Fit Report. It is a one-time purchase.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards via Stripe, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. All transactions are processed securely.

Can I get a refund?

Because reports are generated on demand using significant compute resources, we are unable to offer refunds once generation has begun. If you experience a technical issue with your report, please contact us at hello@schoolcompass.com.au and we will make it right.

How are commute times calculated?

Commute times are calculated from the home address you provide during onboarding to each school's physical address, using Google Maps. Both driving and public transport options are included where available, with route names and approximate frequency shown for schools well-served by transit.

The transit information for one school looks wrong — what should I do?

Transit data depends on Google Maps' routing accuracy and may reflect off-peak options or miss peak-hour services in some cases. We recommend verifying with your local public transport journey planner for the most accurate school-morning options.

Do I need to create an account?

Accepted Answer

Yes — a free account is required to create a child profile and order a report. Your account stores your child's profile, uploaded documents, and completed reports so you can access them any time.

Can I save my report as a PDF?

Yes. From the report viewer, use the "Save as PDF" button in the top navigation bar. This triggers your browser's print-to-PDF function with a print-optimised layout.

Is my child's information kept private?
